Nickie has been working in the Hair and Beauty Sector for over 30 years having trained in both Hair and Beauty and gained her Assessors Qualification whilst in her last year of College . After 12 months working in a Beauty Salon, Nickie began to deliver some 10 week taster sessions in Hair and Beauty at an adult training centre, beginning her passion for Teaching and Education and she secured her first teaching position in 1997, going on to achieve her IQA qualification as well as her Cert Ed.
Nickie worked in the same FE college for over 25 years where she taught School Link, Hair, Beauty therapy, Nails and holistic treatments at all Levels. Over the years Nickie has been part of several college mergers and worked across multiple sites where she had a variety of different roles alongside her teaching such as Lead IQA, supporting Competition work and in her final year of teaching being Curriculum lead for Hair, Beauty and Barbering where she supported the Curriculum manager with curriculum planning, interviews and various events.
In 2017, Nickie secured a role within the Quality Assurance department as Cross College IQA Champion, working across 5 different campuses supporting IQA in a whole range of subject areas outside her own subject of expertise such as Small animal care, Agriculture, Construction, Catering, Health & Social care and Childcare to name a few. Within this role Nickie was instrumental in the development of new IQA process along with the paperwork to support this for the whole college. Nickie was involved with a range of AOs and EQAs supporting departments preparing for external visits.
Nickie now works for VTCT as a Key Account Manager for Wales and Northern Ireland supporting centres with all aspects of implementing the curriculum, in order for them to grow and for their students to reach their chosen destinations.
