The cream of British barbering will once again get its chance to shine with the launch of this year’s British Barber of the Year competition.
Hosted annually by the British Barbers’ Association (BBA), with support from Andis, BBA male grooming range and Booksy, the competition aims to find out who truly is the best of the best when it comes to the UK’s barbering scene.
Open to all BBA members, entrants must submit three photographs featuring different models and demonstrating their abilities in fading, flattops and creativity by 29th March 2018.
A shortlist of just 8 semi-finalists will then be chosen by a panel of the BBA’s top judges to compete live at Barber UK, Birmingham NEC, on 21th May 2018.
The two highest scoring finalists will then go head-to-head in the BBA’s very own boxing ring showcasing their creative cutting skills to be crowned British Barber of the Year 2018.
As well as the coveted title, the winner will receive the prestigious BBA British Barber of the Year belt, £2,000 prize money and men’s grooming products worth £500. The runner-up will also receive a BBA plaque, £500 prize money and £500 worth of products.
Trevor Studd, BBA Business Development Director, said, “The British Barber of the Year is now the premier competition for men’s hairdressing and barbering in the UK, and some of the past winners of the title have gone on to be the best known and most respected barbers in the business. It’s a fantastic opportunity for anyone out there who thinks they have the skills to give their career a massive boost and be recognised by their industry and peers.”
Karen Formico, Andis’s Vice President of Marketing, said, “We are proud to be working with the BBA as part of the judging panel for the British Barber of the Year award. The competition is a brilliant opportunity for us to experience new and exciting talent, witnessing the best in technical ability and accuracy. It is a great honour for Andis to be part of this association, helping to push the boundaries within the barber industry.”
Entry is open to all BBA members. Cost of entry is free, as is membership of the BBA for those not already members.
VTCT and BBA have partnered to work together to champion barbers throughout their learning journey.
