New Professional Apprenticeship Standards for Hairdressing and Barbering – 1 May 2017

The new Professional Standards for Apprenticeships for hairdressing in England are introduced on 1 May 2017 and VTCT has developed qualifications to support learners across these sectors.

The new apprenticeships have been designed by employers to develop the professional knowledge, skills and behaviour they require from employees in a specific job role.  The funding system has been simplified and there is a new independent end-point assessment that allows apprentices to be assessed once they have gained the maximum experience possible.

English and Maths still form an integral part of the new professional apprenticeships and hair apprentices without level 1 English and Maths will need to achieve this level and show evidence of working towards level 2 English and Maths prior to completion of their Apprenticeship.

Information about the new Professional Standards for Apprenticeships for hairdressing can be found on the Apprenticeships pages of this site.
