Due to vacancies caused by retirement, we are seeking two Trustees to join the Board. We need people who can demonstrate strategic vision, sound commercial and financial acumen with excellent communication skills. We would like to attract people from a wide range of backgrounds, who will bring a fresh perspective to the Board of Trustees and therefore welcome applications from all sections of the community.
We would really value someone who is a qualified accountant and brings financial, audit or risk management experience. Additionally, we would like someone from an independent training provider, Further Education or Sixth Form College, as these are currently under-represented on the Board. We would also welcome applications who have relevant lived experience, perhaps as a young learner, for example.
If you have previous Trustee or executive board experience so much the better, but we would also be pleased to consider those who are aspiring to be a trustee of a large charity for the first time. Most of all, we are looking for people to join us who have the enthusiasm, commitment and passion for advancing education and improving career and life prospects.
Time commitment
The time commitment is around one day per month based on six Board meetings per year, a Board Development Day and other ad-hoc involvement to include reading and preparation, training opportunities, special projects and representing VTCT at external events.
The three sub-committees meet up to three times annually and Trustees can choose to volunteer to be a member of one, or more, of these committees.
