Hairdressing Apprenticeships with VTCT
Advent Calendar Day 13
Today we are opening up Advent Calendar Day 13, and we are taking a further look at hairdressing, this time looking at the Hair Professionals (Hairdressing) apprenticeship.
We already looked at the Hairdressing Career path on Day 3 of this year’s Advent Calendar. There are multiple ways into the industry, but a Hairdressing apprenticeship is a great way to gain entry, allowing an apprentice to learn and earn at the same time.
An apprenticeship is a combination of paid work and paid training in your chosen career. The paid work is called ‘on-the-job’ and the paid training is called ‘off-the-job’.
If you’re just starting to think about opting for the apprenticeship route, you probably have a lot of questions. We’ve provided some additional information to guide you, available on the information sheet which you can download on the left.
It’s important to know that depending on where you live, the way apprenticeships are run does differ slightly. In order to make sure you’re getting the information that is relevant to you based on your location, visit our Apprentice page and select your region on the map.

The VTCT Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals (Hairdressing) is one of several Professional Apprenticeship Standards for hair that VTCT offer. We also offer Barbering and Beauty Apprenticeships, which you will find out more about later this month. Make sure you keep following our advent calendar to learn about them.
